Photocopy of an illustrated ts memoir (28pp), written in 1992, describing how, after being commissioned into the RAF as a pilot in March 1944, he was retrained as a glider pilot, posted to No 671 (Glider) Squadron in India and then attached to SOE Force 136 and, under the auspices of RAPWI, parachuted into Sumatra in September 1945 to organise the evacuation of Allied prisoners of war and Dutch civilians from camps in the Pekanbaroe area and their transport by air to Singapore, with interesting references to conditions in the camps and the attitudes of the liberated prisoners of war, attacks on the Dutch and civil disturbances in Pekanbaroe initiated by Indonesian nationalists, and his voyage from Sumatra to Singapore in November - December 1945 on a river boat with several hundred Indians who had been prisoners of war in Sumatra.
