Diary (165pp ms, with later annotations by his son) kept while serving with `Syren Force' at Murmansk, North Russia, as Deputy Assistant Provost Marshal (with the rank of Captain), May - October 1919, comprising brief but often interesting entries describing conditions in Murmansk and the disciplinary problems with which he has to deal; commentary (9pp ts) on the diary, compiled by his son; transcriptions (5pp ts) of three letters from Ward to his sisters, written in October 1914 while he was serving with The Buffs at Ypres and in September 1919 at Murmansk; curriculum vitae (2pp ts) written by his son; nine sheets of photographs taken in Russia, and one large photograph (with signatures) of Russian and British prisoners of war at Krefeld, Germany, during the First World War (Ward was in the camp after being taken prisoner at Ypres in November 1914).
