Ts diary (69pp) written as a retrospective account recording his capture on Crete whilst serving with the 27th Searchlight Regiment RA and his imprisonment in prisoner of war camps in Salonika and Germany, 1941 - 1945, describing the scarcity of food supplies and frequency of punishments in camps in Salonika and an unsuccessful escape attempt before his move to Stalag IVB, Germany where he describes the scarcity of food, clothing and medical care, working parties including work in the Mannesmann steel works near Eidlitz before his move to Bruch (October 1942) where he repaired railway lines and describes the relative ease of camp life including concert parties and visits to town, the increasingly frequent Allied air raids, speculations about the end of the war (March 1945) and reports of the massacre of German civilians by the Czechs (May 1945); together with an exercise book containing verse, drawings and proofs for a camp newsletter; an envelope containing records of his service and an envelope containing photographs of groups in POW camps and a troop ship enroute to Crete.
