Ms diary (24pp) recording his service as a Regimental Sergeant Major in the Royal Garrison Artillery during the Gallipoli campaign, February - July 1915, detailing his duties as a temporary member of the senior service in HMS PRINCE GEORGE working with 6-inch howitzers, night patrol duties off the Dardanelles and his daytime view of the naval bombardments of the Turkish forts (March 1915) including an account of heavy shelling on the 18 March during which they picked up survivors from the French battleship BOUVET, his posting to HMS TROSTAN off Cape Helles, the landings at Anzac (17 May 1915) after which he was put in charge of a 6-inch howitzer, describing his duties and the strain of life on the Peninsula. Together with a photograph of the crew of the 6-inch howitzer and the officers of HMS PRINCE GEORGE (March 1915).
