Ts memoir (8pp) recording his enlistment as a stretcher bearer in the RAMC (August 1914 - August 1918), describing in particular his service at Gallipoli with the 29th Division, the landings at X Beach and at Suvla Bay and occasional points about conditions on the Peninsula; together with a printed copy of a message from Major General Sir Aylmer Hunter-Weston congratulating them on the Gallipoli landings (April 1915); a ts copy of a message to VIII Corps congratulating them on the attack at Beaumont Hamel (July 1916); and 2 theatre programmes for Army stage productions.

Who Was Violette Szabo?

Violette Szabo (1921-1945) worked for 'F' Section in Special Operations Executive (SOE) during the Second World War. During a mission in France she was captured and imprisoned by the Nazi's. She was executed in Ravensbrück concentration camp and posthumously awarded the George Cross, the highest honour given to civilians.
