Microfilm copy of a ts diary (385pp) written on the Home Front during the First World War and recording his involvement with the Volunteer Corps, the Zeppelin and Gotha raids on London, and the Armistice Day celebrations, but also describing events about which he had heard or read including the Angels of Mons, the alleged crucifixion of Canadian officers at Ypres and other wartime rumours, revealing his hostility towards the British political leadership including Asquith and his 'wait and see' policy, conscription and the Derby Scheme, while referring to Edith Cavell's execution and that of Captain Charles Fryatt, the sinking of the LUSITANIA, German air raids on Britain, and events during the eight months after the Armistice. Also held with the collection are a series of (original) ms letters written to him by colleagues and acquaintances, October 1914 - April 1918, mainly serving overseas, notably in France and Malta, as medical officers or in military hospitals.
