Series of 9 flying log books covering his initial flying training (May 1939 - August 1940), a full tour of operations flying Hampden Bombers against targets in Germany and occupied Europe with No 44 Squadron RAF Bomber Command, based at RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire (September 1940 - March 1941), a period as an instructor at No 14 Operational Training Unit (OTU), RAF Cottesmore and at No 25 OTU, RAF Finningley (April - December 1941), a further tour of operations flying Manchester (and later Lancaster) bombers with No 83 Squadron RAF Bomber Command based at RAF Scampton (December 1941 - July 1942), a period as a chief instructor on Wellington Bombers at No 11 OTU at RAF Bassingbourne and RAF Oakley (July 1942 - June 1943), his postings to the newly formed Empire Test Pilot's School at RAF Boscombe Down (June 1943 - February 1944), to the Air & Armament Experimental Establishment (March 1944 - December 1945) and, as Officer Commanding, to the Civil Aircraft Test Squadron, and, after demobilisation, as chief test pilot for Handley Page (April 1947 - 1970). The log books are accompanied by an ms diary (61pp), with ts transcript (13pp), recording in some detail his first experiences of flying at No 6 Elementary Training School at RAF Sywell (May - June 1939), a certificate awarded on the completion of a course at the Empire Test Pilot's School (January 1944), certificates for the award of the King's Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air (June 1947) and the Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air (January 1959), a signed envelope, on which Hazelden is pictured, produced in Jersey to mark the 30th anniversary of the first flight of the Handley Page Victor, a portrait photograph of him in uniform (1941) and photographs of B Flight, No 44 Squadron RAF (1941) and of a Lancaster of No 83 Squadron.
