Extensive collection (circa 760 boxes) of photocopies, with some originals and translations, of a wide variety of documents pertaining largely to military and related matters in Germany during the 1920s and the `Third Reich' period, broadly comprising: files on the structure and organisation of the `Reichswehr' and military administration in the Weimar Republic; High Command planning documents of the 1930s; `Fuhrer Directives'; War Diaries and other records of the Armed Forces and Army High Commands (OKW, OKH); Military Intelligence files (Abwehr, Fremde Heere West & Ost); Army Unit War Diaries 1939 - 1945 (Western European theatres including Operation `Sealion', Norway, Eastern Front & Balkans, North Africa, Italy and Sicily); Army Organisation including Strengths and Casualties, Orders of Battle; Army Officers' Record Cards; Naval Staff Operations Division (SKL) War Diary; files on particular subjects (V-Weapons, SS documents, 20th July 1944 (Bomb Plot) files, Hitler personal documents (including private and political testaments), fortifications, Organisation Todt etc); Diaries of Franz Halder, Alfred Jodl, Josef Goebbels; extensive records of the Personal Staff, Reichsfuhrer-SS (`Himmler Papers'). Also a series of `EDS Appreciations', historical studies on German Armed Forces operations prepared by the Cabinet Office Historical Section and based largely on the records described, and related papers (`EDS Miscellaneous').
