3 letters from France describing his work with the YMCA at Bapaume, where he was organising the establishment of a new YMCA hut, February - April 1918; the first letter (4pp) dated 26 February 1918, the second (6pp) dated 12 March 1918 and the third (2pp) dated 13 April 1918. The collection also contains a metal Presbyterian YMCA identification disc, and a fragment from THE SCOTSMAN, 24 April 1915.

Who Was Violette Szabo?

Violette Szabo (1921-1945) worked for 'F' Section in Special Operations Executive (SOE) during the Second World War. During a mission in France she was captured and imprisoned by the Nazi's. She was executed in Ravensbrück concentration camp and posthumously awarded the George Cross, the highest honour given to civilians.
