Photocopies of two letters written during his service in the 2/7th Battalion Durham Light Infantry with Elope Force in Archangel, North Russia, to relatives in London. Miller (1882 - 1928) was a printer by profession and was later employed on the staff of the North Russia Expeditionary Force's newspaper, the "Archangel Gazette". The first letter (2pp), 29 October 1918, reports his arrival in North Russia and comments on the high price of food and drink, the condition of his billet and the possible effect of the end of the war against Germany on Elope Force, while the second letter (2pp), December 1918, passes more unfavourable comment on living conditions in Archangel and concludes "...things are still in a state of chaos here and do not expect to get away before next May or June ... I shall be glad to see the last of it..."
