5 ms letters written to he and his wife during the First World War, the first (first page missing) written by someone in hospital describing the view from the nearest window (4pp, undated); the second from J Jacobs, 6th Battalion London Regiment (47th (2nd London) Division) thanking Mrs Jacomb-Hood for some cigarettes and describing a mining village in which he has been billeted and a night bombing raid on the German trenches (3pp, 6 June 1915); the third from Lieutenant I H Ingleby of the Grenadier Guards describing the recently captured German trenches on the Western Front (3pp, 11 April 1917?); the fourth from Ingleby thanking him for the Times Supplement and commenting on his Battalion's recent casualties (1p, 24 August 1917?); and an ms letter from "Bob" serving with 33 Kite Balloon Section RFC concerning family matters (2pp, 12 November ?). Together with an ms map of an unknown area prepared by Captain C H Powell of the 1st Gurkha Rifles (1p, undated).
