Photocopy of an ms diary kept during her service as a VAD at Shorncliffe Hospital, Folkestone, May - June 1940, with references to her duties, social activities, reaction to war news and to the influx of allied and enemy wounded at the end of May; then at Hedingly Asylum, East Sussex where she worked briefly before taking leave with her family in southern England, with incidental references to civilian conditions; then as a telephone orderly at Leeds Castle, Kent (in use as a military hospital), July - September 1940, with references to local air raids, talk of enemy invasion and her social activities; also a ts copy of 3 diary entries for August 1942 relating to Brazil's declaration of war on Germany which she wrote whilst serving as a Foreign Office cypher girl in Rio de Janeiro.
