Ts biographical account (29pp including illustrations), written by a fellow officer in 1997, recording the details of his service, initially as a Troop commander, with the 1st Derbyshire Yeomanry, the armoured car regiment of the 6th Armoured Division, under training in Scotland (1942), under 1st Army during the campaign in North Africa from the landing at Algiers until the capture of Tunis (November 1942 - May 1943) and during their retraining in Algeria as an armoured reconnaissance regiment equipped with tanks, but still under 6th Armoured Division (July 1943 - March 1944), as a Squadron second-in-command in Italy, including a fierce action during the Battle of Cassino (April - May 1944), as the Adjutant of the Regiment as they advanced north through Italy to the Florence area (May - November 1944) and as a Troop Commander again during the crossings of the Rivers Senio, Po and Adige (April - May 1945), with the Army of Occupation in the Klagenfurt area of Austria where they reconverted to armoured cars (May - September 1945) and finally in Italy (September 1945 - January 1946) and Egypt until his demobilisation (January - August 1946); and his post-war service with the Derbyshire Yeomanry in the Territorial Army (1948 - 1954).
