Photocopy of a ts memoir (5pp), written ca 1999, recording how as a leading seaman he served during the latter stages of the Malayan campaign in command of the patrol launch HMS SIMIT which was involved in assisting Allied troops operating behind the Japanese lines in Malaya (January - February 1942), then joined the crew of the patrol vessel HMS LI WO and served in her, with the rank of acting petty officer, in charge of her one 4-inch gun, during her gallant attack on the Japanese convoy in the Bangka Straits for which her commanding officer, Lieutenant T Wilkinson RNR, was awarded a posthumous VC, and was finally taken prisoner by the Japanese after swimming ashore and spending over a fortnight as an evader.
