3 ms letters from men on active service to Lucy Bateson, a little girl who had knitted them comforts, consisting of: a letter (2pp) from W Baxter, a driver with 165th Brigade RFA, thanking Lucy for the muffler which he received with her address on it, dated 1 March 1918; a letter (2pp) from H A Buttle of the 148th Brigade RFA, thanking Lucy for socks and a comforter and telling her "I think that its through thinking about nice little girls like you that has helped us to beat the Germans", dated 24 April 1919; and an undated letter (2pp) from Frank Fielder, a driver with 30th DAC RFA, thanking Lucy for a scarf and asking her to write to him. Together with a letter (2pp) from Private W Bateson to his uncle, written from a convalescent depot in France and mainly regarding family matters, 7 August 1917.
