272 ms letters, airgraphs, postcards and telegrams written by him to his parents at their home in Bramley, Surrey (August 1939 - May 1946) covering his service as a signaller with the Honourable Artillery Company (August 1939 - July 1940), his training as an officer (July 1940 - February 1941) and home posting to 96th Field Regiment RA (March 1941 - March 1942), his embarkation for India (March 1942) and service with the Royal Signals Company (May 1942 - March 1943) and Central Command Signals Company (March 1943 - May 1945) in India, and 5th Indian Divisional Signals (May - August 1945) and 12th Army Signals (August - October 1945) in Burma, his return to the United Kingdom (October 1945) and final posting with the British Military Mission to the Netherlands Government (January - May 1946); including comments on his impressions of India, his boredom with duties away from active service, and frustration at the inefficiency of the British authorities in the Far East, but giving few details of his administrative work.
