Interesting and well-written ts memoir in 3 volumes (June 1940 - April 1946) together with 2 volumes of ms letters to his parents in Bramley, Surrey (October 1939 - May 1946) covering his service as a Private with the 141st Field Ambulance Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) (5th Division) in Belgium and at home after Dunkirk (October 1939 - December 1940), his training as an officer (January - June 1941) and home posting to 55th Field Regiment Royal Artillery (June - December 1941), his embarkation with 2nd Reserve Field Regiment RA for Egypt (January 1942), later reformed as 107th Medium Battery RHA, 7th Medium Regiment, and active service in Egypt (August - November 1942), Tripoli (November 1942 - April 1943), Tunisia (April - June 1943), and Sicily (July 1943), followed by home postings (March - June 1944) and action in Normandy (July - September 1944), the Netherlands (October 1944 - April 1945), and Germany (April - May 1945), and with the Army of Occupation in Germany (May 1945 - April 1946); including very detailed accounts of the battles and conditions endured by him both in the Middle East and Europe.
