24 ms letters (43pp) written to his mother while serving in the UK, January 1943, and with the 8th (Belfast) HAA Regiment RA (7th Indian Division) in India, Burma and the Arakan, ?April 1943 - October 1945, including training in Hull prior to embarkation overseas, January 1943, shooting down a German aircraft; in Durban, South Africa, April - May 1943; the voyage from South Africa to India, ?May 1943; serving with his Regiment in India and Burma, July 1943 - October 1945, when he was invalided to hospital in Poona; and commenting on the conditions, missing his family and wife, family deaths in his absence, his religious beliefs, his off-duty recreation, celebrating Christmas (1943), concert parties, medical precautions against malaria and illness, Admiral Lord Louis Mountbatten. Also included are 3 photographs of him in uniform; a photocopy of a letter (1p) from the War Office, April 1946, confirming that he has a disability attributable to Military Service; and a Release Certificate (1p) relinquishing his commission on disability grounds, December 1947.
