Private Papers of Major W G Bailey DSO MC**

A collection of papers including his Officer's Record of Services, a diary (November 1915 - July 1916), commissioning and award certificates, citations for his awards of the Military Cross and the Distinguished Service Order, press cuttings, photographs, and letters, relating to his service in the 2nd Battalion Suffolk Regiment (8th Brigade until October 1915, then 76th Brigade, 3rd Division) and later the Norfolk Regiment on the Western Front during the First World War, together with a few papers concerning his command of the Home Guard Battalion at Weymouth, 1939 - 1945, and in relation to his playing football for Reading and Nottingham Forest.
