Photocopied ts memoir (154pp) covering his service in the 2/6th Battalion The Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment) (185th Brigade, 62nd Division), describing his initial training after joining up in February 1917 and his participation in the Battle of Cambrai, with references to his thoughts and the reactions of himself and his fellow soldiers to the Army and to battle, and to his Christianity.

Who Was Violette Szabo?

Violette Szabo (1921-1945) worked for 'F' Section in Special Operations Executive (SOE) during the Second World War. During a mission in France she was captured and imprisoned by the Nazi's. She was executed in Ravensbrück concentration camp and posthumously awarded the George Cross, the highest honour given to civilians.
