Private Papers of Major J H Alldridge

A collection of miscellaneous papers, newspaper cuttings and photographs relating to his military career with the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade, 1885 - 1922, including a nineteenth century soldier's account book containing details of his service, standing orders, battalion orders, special orders of the day (issued by such Generals as Gough, Heneker, Hunter-Weston and Rawlinson) and various messages concerning his service as Quartermaster with the Battalion (25th Brigade, 8th Division) in France, 1914 - 1918, and Ulster, 1919, together with an Austro-Hungarian propaganda leaflet proposing a peace conference, 1918, Rifle Brigade Standing Orders, 1914, a brief article on the British soldier by Field Marshal Sir Henry Wilson, Second World War ration books, and statistical details concerning the 2nd Battalion's service, 1897 - 1919, (including in the Boer War) compiled by Alldridge.
