Photocopies of extracts (162pp) from his ts memoirs, written ca 1960, and a printed article (4pp) covering his training as a cadet at the RN Engineering College, Keyham (1902 - 1906) and his subsequent service as an engineer officer in the Channel Fleet battleship HMS OCEAN (1907 - 1908), the Mediterranean Fleet battleship HMS GOLIATH (1908 - 1909), the Home Fleet flotilla leader HMS SKIRMISHER (1909 - 1910), the Home Fleet battleship HMS VANGUARD (1910 - 1912) and the newly commissioned light cruiser HMS DUBLIN, latterly in the Mediterranean Fleet (1912 - 1914); on the engineering staff at the Royal Australian Naval College (June 1914 - May 1916); as an Engineer Lieutenant Commander in HMS HERCULES, the flagship of the 4th Battle Squadron, Grand Fleet (August 1916 - February 1919), but detached from February - May 1918 after volunteering for service as Chief Engineer in the light cruiser/blockship HMS THETIS during the preparations for and eventual execution of the Zeebrugge raid; his temporary employment as a railway fireman in London during the rail strike in autumn 1919; his appointment to the Naval Inter-Allied Control Commission in Berlin with responsibility for the supervision of former German naval war materials (1920 - 1922); his service as Engineer Commander in the royal yacht HMS VICTORIA AND ALBERT (1924 - 1932) including King George V's cruise in the Mediterranean in 1925 and the 1932 naval review; his appointment as Captain of the RN Engineering College, Keyham (1933 - 1936) and his plans for its expansion; and his selection for the post of Superintending Engineer and Constructor of Shipping to the War Department (November - December 1936). The memoirs, which include interesting references to morale in the Grand Fleet during the latter years of the First World War and to the professional and personal qualities of Admiral H Blackett, Admiral Sir Montague Browning, Admiral Sir Frederic Dreyer and Vice Admiral C A Fountaine, are accompanied by photocopies of ms letters (April 1918 - October 1937) from Boddie and other naval officers, including Vice Admiral R S W Sneyd, concerning the raids on Zeebrugge and Ostend in April and May 1918, of Boddie's ms notes (2pp) on the account of the Zeebrugge raid in the Official History of Naval Operations, and of his 'curriculum vitae'.
