Photocopy of an undated ts memoir (38pp, plus illustrations) covering his service, as an engineering graduate, in the RNVSR (1937 - 1939), his appointment as a Sub Lieutenant (E) RNVR (October 1939) and service in the destroyer depot ship HMS WOOLWICH (December 1939 - April 1940), in the cruiser HMS EFFINGHAM in the Norwegian campaign until she was sunk after running aground (April - May 1940), in the fleet repair ship HMS VINDICTIVE and the cruiser HMS DELHI in West African waters (July - November 1940) and in the cruiser HMS CUMBERLAND in the South Atlantic (November 1940 - June 1941); his transfer to the Royal Navy and service as Senior Engineer in the destroyer HMS COSSACK with Force H in the western Mediterranean until she was torpedoed and sunk with heavy loss of life (July - October 1941), in the sloop HMS LANDGUARD (40th Escort Group) based on Londonderry and employed on Atlantic, West African and Mediterranean convoy escort duty (November 1941 - June 1943), in the destroyer HMS ESCAPADE which suffered extensive damage in September 1943 from the explosion of her 'Hedgehog' anti-submarine weapon while on Atlantic convoy escort and required a major refit (July 1943 - March 1944), and in the destroyer HMS QUEENBOROUGH (March 1944 - October 1945) first with the Eastern Fleet in the Indian Ocean and then, from March 1945, with the British Pacific Fleet, including the liberation of Allied prisoners of war on Hainan; and, following QUEENBOROUGH's transfer to the Royal Australian Navy, ashore in Australia until his passage home for demobilisation in March 1946.
