Two issues of the privately-published Danehill Parish Historical Society Magazine, the first (May 1995, 44pp) illustrating mostly through personal recollections the effects of the Second World War on the community of Danehill, a small Sussex village, with useful references to civilian conditions including air raids and V-weapons, civil defence and the Home Guard, rationing, school life and evacuation, and local people serving abroad; the second issue (November 1996) includes a 12pp article transcribing a series of letters written home by William Thompsett during training with the 14th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment at Aldershot and active service with the 6th Battalion East Kent Regiment in France, October 1916 - April 1917, containing criticisms of the treatment of private soldiers in the trenches, and 2 letters of sympathy from the soldier who discovered his body following his death in May 1917.
