Word-processed memoir (81pp), being a collection of anecdotes rather than a chronologically accurate account, covering his evacuation as a schoolboy to Staffordshire in 1939, his subsequent wartime work as a car and railway engineer, involvement with the Air Training Corps, and service with the Royal Engineers (November 1944 - 1947) including training at Fulwood Barracks, Preston and active service in India (Bombay, Coimbatore, Madras and Rangoon) from 1945, including useful descriptions of gas mask testing, the flooding of air raid shelters, wartime school life, the Manchester Blitz, the destruction of barrage balloons by lightning, the sudden reduction in size of the ATC after D-Day (6 June 1944), and the state of postwar India, together with photocopies of press cuttings from THE BURMA STAR concerning his experiences playing football for the Royal Engineers.
