Photocopy of a ts account (27pp plus 25pp photographs) based on a personal diary but written in the style of a general history, covering his service as a Captain in the 1/10th Battalion Manchester Regiment (126th Brigade, 42nd Division) during his initial training at Alexandria and the defence of the Suez Canal, Egypt (October 1914 - May 1915) and then in 126th Brigade Machine Gun Company at Cape Helles, Gallipoli (May - December 1915) until evacuation to Mudros, including a description of the Third Battle of Krithia (4 - 6 June) and an incomplete transcription of a Turkish proclamation dropped by aeroplane, his return to Egypt (February 1916 - January 1917) with a description of the Battle of El Arish (December - January 1917), and transfer to the Western Front (March 1917 - November 1918) embracing service on the Somme and in the Ypres Salient, together with a miscellaneous collection of photocopied ms and ts papers (53pp), including notes on machine gun tactics, ms plans of gun emplacements and trenches at Gallipoli, movement orders, and a copy of his will, written at Gallipoli (14 June 1915).
