Assorted collections of items relating to the First World War service of private P A Gray, RASC, including Certificate of Exemption (July 1916), Certificate of Appreciation on Demobilisation (nd), Certificate of Demobilisation (15 January 1920) and Soldier's Demobilisation Account (nd), together with a collection of items relating to the Second World War service of Sapper J E Gray in the Royal Engineers, including combined leave pass and railway ticket (8 May 1940), form stating impracticality of leave at the stated time (19 May 1940), and various papers relating to the Army Catering Corps including Constitution and Rules of the Regimental Association (nd), list of classes in a cookery competition and exhibition held in Athens (June - July 1945), Catering Circular (No 4) concerning the postwar training of cooks (30 June 1945), two copies of an army booklet `Health Memoranda for Soldiers' (nd), ms notebook on cooking, 6 airgrams and letters from A E Gray to his parents in London mainly concerning domestic matters, cooking and the weather (1943 - 1944), blank airgraph, Special Order of the Day (2 May 1945), Class `A' Releases pamphlet and form, leaflet for men and women leaving the forces, Attestation certificate (28 September 1952), numerous menus and programmes (1943 - 1945), and a small number of items relating to the Home Front, including four clothing and general ration books (1940 - 1948), rationing cards, documents concerning war damage, application for a driving test, Regimental and Old Comrades Association income tax form, pamphlet on Supplementary Allowance, Tourist Guide to Pompeii, and postcards and newspaper clippings.
