Photocopy of a very well-written ts account (235pp) compiled in the late 1940s by 'an obscure regimental officer' of his service in the Nigeria Regiment under training in Nigeria, October 1940 - summer 1943, and in India with the Chindits in the winter of 1943 - 1944, and of his command of 29 Column, 7th Battalion Nigeria Regiment, during the second Chindit expedition into northern Burma, April - July 1944. While under the command of 77th Indian Inantry Brigade, 29 Column operated in the Mawlu area and in the Kachin country and they subsequently served with the West African Brigade in the vicinity of the White City, Indawgyi Lake and Pahok, becoming very exhausted and depleted towards the end of the campaign. The manuscript has been published under the title CHINDIT COLUMN (London: William Kirber, 1985).
