Ts transcript (20pp, part photocopy) of his very graphic letter home describing his Long Range Penetration (LRP) Training in India in the winter of 1943 - 1944 and his impressions of Major General Wingate, and covering his subsequent service in command of the machine gun platoon of 80 Column, 1st Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment (77th Indian Infantry Brigade) during the second Chindit expedition into northern Burma, March - July 1944, including the defence of the "White City" block against determined Japanese attacks in March and April and operations leading to the capture of Mogaung in June. With the transcript are photocopies of the citation for his Military Cross (1p) and of a ms letter (7pp) from his platoon sergeant commenting on Durant's qualities of leadership and courage.
