Private Papers of Lieutenant General Sir Carl Jess CB CMG CBE DSO
Ts extracts (8pp) from a diary kept as Brigade Major of the 2nd Infantry Brigade (1st Australian Division) from December 1914. The extracts concentrate on Gallipoli and on the landings at Anzac Cove in April, which he witnessed from a ship, and service ashore until June 19th. The fighting is well chronicled, including a truce with the Turks. Extracts also cover August, describing graphically the bitter and confused fighting at German Officers Trench, and part of December 1915.
