Ms diary (62pp), with a ts transcript (56pp), kept by Eve Dodsworth while at home in York (January - May 1915), describing the voluntary work of herself and her sister Kit at a local VAD hospital and YMCA, and also their service as VADs at No 12 General Hospital, Rouen (May - July 1915); a copy of a well-written ts account (117pp) by Kit Dodsworth of the sisters' experiences at Rouen (May - December 1915), at an unnamed hospital in the Midlands where they were treated very badly by the matron because of their VAD status (late 1916), at Dyke Road Hospital, Brighton (Spring - December 1917), en route for Egypt in HMT ARAGON until she was torpedoed at the end of December 1917, and at No 19 General Hospital, Alexandria (January - November 1918); and also a copy of a lively ms diary (77pp) written jointly by Eve and Kit in Egypt in early 1918 and including a detailed account of their voyage to the country (their original diary was lost when the ARAGON was sunk); together with a scrapbook covering their experiences in Egypt and containing documents and photographs - including of the sinking of the HMT ARAGON - and items relating to Kit's marriage to Lieutenant Vaughan-Philips in November 1918.
