11 ms letters written to his parents in Mitcham while serving as a rifleman in the 8th Battalion, The Rifle Brigade (41st Brigade, 14th Division) at Aldershot in May 1915, and then on the Western Front from May until the end of July 1915 when he was killed in the German attack at Hooge. The letters are quite well written, describing conditions in the trenches and the surrounding countryside, and containing many reassurances as to his well-being, apart from the smallness of rations. Also, a letter of condolence written by his Company Commander and his certificate of death; 2 ms letters written by his brother, A E Braund, while serving in the 13th Battalion, the Rifle Brigade (11th Brigade, 37th Division) in France in 1916; printed mobilisation orders for the London Rifle Brigade; an Overseas Club Christmas Day gifts for the troops certificate, 1915; and photographs of V S and A E Braund.
