Photocopy of ms memoir (150pp) of his military service, April 1934 - November 1957, beginning as a physiotherapist in the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) in England, April 1934 - October 1936, then at the Imtarfa Military Hospital, Malta, November 1936 - June 1940, and later at a General Hospital in Egypt, July - September 1940, after which he transferred to the infantry and was commissioned into the Cyprus Regiment but seconded to the 2nd Battalion, the Libyan Arab Force on defensive duties in Egypt and Cyrenaica, May 1941 - September 1943, when he volunteered for the Special Operations Executive (SOE) and was allocated to the Greek section, dropping into Greece to act as a liaison officer with the Andarte Division of ELAS, February - July 1944 following which he volunteered for the Services Reconnaissance Department Z Special Unit (aka Z Force) operating in Dutch Borneo, January - August 1945, and after a brief period with RAPWI in Shanghai he transferred to the 8th Battalion, The Suffolk Regiment then serving as garrison troops in Bermuda February 1946 - January 1947, and he subsequently served on the British Military Mission in Saudi Arabia, October 1948 - September 1951, with the 1st Battalion, The Suffolk Regiment in Malaya, October 1951 - December 1952, in the Trucial Oman States Defence Force, May 1953 - November 1954, and finally in the Royal West African Frontier Force (RWAFF) in Nigeria, February 1955 - November 1957.
