Ts account (carbon copy, 74pp) written shortly after the Second World War, recording his experiences as a prisoner of war following his capture at the fall of Singapore where he had been serving as a subaltern with the 9th Battalion Royal Northumberland Fusiliers (attached to 18th Division HQ). He was held in Changi camp, Singapore (February - November 1942) and then in Thailand at Chungkai (November 1942), Wang Lan (November 1942 - March 1943), Wampo (March - April 1943), Tarsao and Takanun (April - May 1943), in camps around the 211 kilometre mark - possibly Tamajo and Kreung Krai (May 1943 - February 1944), Chungkai again (February 1944 - February 1945) and Kanburi (February - September 1945) and describes conditions and Japanese brutality in the camps and when working on the Burma-Siam railway as well as making interesting remarks about methods of survival and the morale boosting work of Major General Beckwith-Smith.
