Ms diary (19pp, 30 September 1941 - 17 October 1945) describing his service as a Captain with the 88th Field Regiment RA, 11th Indian Division and attached to the 18th Division en route to and in Malaya, his capture at the fall of Singapore and his imprisonment in the following camps: Changi (February 1942 - May 1943); Tonchan (May - September 1943) and Kanburi (September - December 1943) with 'H' Force in Thailand; and Sime Road (December 1943 - May 1944), Changi (May 1944 - September 1945) and Selarang (May 1944) in Singapore; the diary briefly describes conditions, events and movements. Also ms notes (14pp) made while a prisoner of war and including transcriptions of British and Japanese orders, ration scales, statistics of Changi prison population, food prices in camp and an extract report on deficiency diseases; ms transcriptions (34pp) of some diary entries (February - May 1942) with additional notes and a story; ts lists (14pp) of personnel from 88th Field Regiment RA with ms/ts notes indicating their movements and fates as prisoners of war; ts transcript of a letter (5pp, Second World War) from a Gunner to Dickson's family giving information about Dickson's fate; photographs and miscellaneous items, including a 'Boon Pong' appeal.
