Contemporary ms account (6pp), written when he was serving as a sub lieutenant in the cruiser HMS SUFFOLK, describing the ship's part in the shadowing of the BISMARCK and PRINZ EUGEN when they broke out into the North Atlantic through the Denmark Strait and sank HMS HOOD, May 1941; together with an ms diary of events (2pp) that he kept as the officer in charge of the armed guard on board the Finnish merchant ship PLUTO after she had been intercepted by HMS SUFFOLK in the North Atlantic and ordered into Iceland for examination for contraband.
