RAF Navigator's, Air Bombers's and Air Gunner's Flying Log Book (Form 1767, 23pp) recording his service as a Flight Engineer and Co-pilot with Bomber Command, including: his flying training with No 1657 CU, October 1943 - January 1944; and his active service (7 operations) flying the Stirling and the B17 Flying Fortress on radio counter measures with No 214 Squadron, No 100 (Bomber Support) Group, RAF Sculthorpe and RAF Oulton, Norfolk, January - June 1944, when at the age of 20 he went missing on operations and was presumed dead (he had been shot down over Holland after a raid on Essen). Also included are his Air Training Cadets Manual (70pp), ATCP, 1941; a photograph of him in uniform, a letter (1p), undated, of sympathy from George VI to his mother; and a letter (1p), c.1947, from the AOC-in-C Records, RAF, forwarding his flying log book.
