YMCA Wartime Log mainly compiled as a prisoner of war in Marlag-Milag Nord (December 1943 - April 1945) and containing brief accounts of his capture after the destroyer HMS BEDOUIN, in which he was serving as a Petty Officer Writer, was sunk by Italian naval forces in the Mediterranean on 15 June 1942, his movements to camps PG58 and PG52 in Italy (1942 - September 1943) and the forced march from Marlag to Lubeck immediately prior to his liberation (April - May 1945) and other memorabilia, including cartoons, poems and official forms, from his captivity; together with five ms letters home (December 1942 - November 1944) and photocopies of several short ts memoirs, mainly written in the 1960s, describing the sinking of HMS BEDOUIN, the gallant conduct of her commanding officer, Commander B G Scurfield RN, and his death during the forced march to Lubeck when the column of prisoners of war was mistakenly attacked by Allied aircraft, conditions in Marlag-Milag Nord and in the Italian camps in which Macey had been imprisoned.
