Photocopied ts transcripts (81pp) of her letters to her future husband in India, December 1941 - September 1945, together with a photocopy of the ts memoir (44pp) which she based on this correspondence, covering briefly her work in the registry office of MI5 in Wormwood Scrubs, 1939 - 1940, and at greater length her employment as a civilian in the Admiralty, initially as secretary to the Director of Naval Operations (Home), September 1940 - May 1944, and subsequently in the Naval Secretary's Office, May 1944 - September 1945, with amusing details of office life at the Admiralty and cameo descriptions of the naval officers, including Admirals Sir Cecil Harcourt, Sir Ralph Edwards, Sir John Eccles and Sir Claud Barry, with whom she worked as well as useful references to civilian conditions in wartime London, the Blitz, her friendship with Mrs Elizabeth Mack and the latter's reaction to the news of the death of her husband, Rear Admiral Philip Mack, in an air crash (May 1943), celebrations of VE and VJ Days, and her engagement and arrangements for her wedding in October 1945.
