Ts memoir (180pp) written in the 1950's, of her service in the FANYs (1942 - 1946?), including references to her reasons for joining (ie. her enjoyment of driving and the attractions of men!), her training in mechanics at Camberley (1942), the passing out parade at Sandhurst, her brief spell as acting corporal while instructing new conscripted FANYs in driving, an episode in which she was used to trap an army colonel who was misusing his position and the staff car, her marriage and efforts to see her husband, even going absent without leave for a week to visit him before he took part in the D-Day operations, the problems of being female in a predominantly male environment, and the atmosphere of freedom and expectancy in Britain as the Germans were 'driven back' after D-Day, concluding in the VE Day celebrations in London. Also briefly mentioned is her service with the Womens Land Army before 1942, which is further described in her book, GREEN HANDS.
