Photocopy of a ts memoir (110pp) covering her experiences as a student teacher in a country town during the Second World War, with details of the difficult circumstances under which the children were taught, life at the school, the disruption of classes by air-raids, attitudes to work by both the adults and children, the teachers' changing views to the development of children, children's occupations and games during wartime, and the peace celebrations in 1945, and including comments on her own sense of loneliness and loss as her friends left the town to begin various forms of wartime service, her efforts to deal with the subject of conscientious objection among her pupils, rationing, recycling and 'making do', and how the hardships experienced during wartime affected her physical strength for her post-war career.
