Ts diary (52pp), October 1944 - September 1945, recording his experiences as an officer in the Royal Yugoslav Army and chief of staff of the Serbian Shock Corps, part of the forces loyal to King Peter II led by General Draza Mihailovic, including: fighting Tito's partisans in Bosnia, October - December 1944; meeting Mihailovic, who was very bitter towards the Allies, and the exhaustion of the troops, December 1944; the surrender to the Germans in Zavidovice (Zavidovici, Yugoslavia), January 1945; the journey through Croatia to Vienna, January 1945; his illness in 8th Reserve Hospital, Vienna, January - February 1945; the move to Slovenia and his illness there, March - April 1945; the retreat into Italy making contact with the New Zealand Corps, April 1945; being disarmed and held as prisoners by the Allies in Italy, May - September 1945; and interesting comments on the chaos in Yugoslavia; the lack of Allied support; the poor morale resulting from rumours about the Communists' treatment of their families in Yugoslavia; and the disillusionment at the way the Allies had deserted them and delivered their country to the Communists.
