66 ts letters (113pp) from local county committees of the Women's Land Army in Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Buckinghamshire covering her service as a land girl from November 1941 to February 1949, including correspondence relating to her acceptance as a member of the WLA (November 1941) and her membership card with original envelope; information sheets on membership, wages, rationing and coupons; information about proficiency badge tests and two certificates for badges in tractor work and general farm work with original envelope; arrangements for her participation in the Lord's Mayor Show in London (November 1946); her appointment to the WLA Committee for Buckinghamshire (August 1948); and her resignation due to her forthcoming marriage (November 1948), together with a letter from a family friend (August 1945), a farmer in Yorkshire, advising her of the opportunities for a young woman in an agricultural career. Also with the collection is an airgraph letter to her from a schoolfriend, Miss A St Paul Butler (July 1944), giving a brief summary of her six months service with the FANYs in Egypt and Italy, a series of ms letters (19pp), June 1940 - December 1944, written to her from various people and mentioning Battle of Britain parades and army strikes due to the slow pace of demobilisation, a series of ts letters (8pp), June 1940 - November 1944, 2 ms picture postcards from her mother, November and December 1943, an undated Christmas card, and a collection of miscellaneous printed material including Ordnance Survey maps of Preston, Southport & Blackpool, Bolton & Manchester, and Whitby & Saltburn.
