Brief ts recollections (13 pp), written in 1992, of his training as an ordinary telegraphist in the shore establishment HMS ROYAL ARTHUR at Skegness, the London Telegraphy Training College and the shore establishment HMS SCOTIA near Ayr (August 1941 - spring 1942), his appointment to the destroyer HMS SALADIN which was based on Londonderry for North Atlantic convoy escort work (spring - late 1942), his transfer to Combined and appointment to LCI(L)289, with descriptions of his experiences during her construction and work up in the United States, for passage across the Atlantic and her service in the Mediterranean during the landings in Sicily, Italy and the South of France (early 1943 - September 1944), and his service in a shore wireless station in Sicily (late 1944). The memoirs include some helpful technical data about the wireless equipment which he used and its efficacy.
