Hardcovered notebook containing an ms diary (129pp) kept by a seaman torpedoman in HMS INVINCIBLE, August 1914 - May 1915, and covering her re-commissioning at Portsmouth (August 1914), her deployment with the 2nd Battle Cruiser Squadron, Grand Fleet in the North Sea including the Battle of the Heligoland Bight (August - October 1914), her passage to the South Atlantic and the sinking of the SCHARNHORST and GNEISENAU at the Battle of the Falkland Islands (November - December 1914) and her return to Home waters and service as the flagship of the 3rd Battle Cruiser Squadron, Grand Fleet based on Rosyth (February - May 1915), with useful references to submarine scares at the Grand Fleet's bases, to the good work of INVINCIBLE's ship's company and their respect for Vice Admiral (later Admiral of the Fleet) Sir Doveton Sturdee; together with a selection of photographs of Pratt in uniform and of the ships in which he served (1905 - 1919), the originals of three of his amusing sketches of life at sea and printed copies of poems on the Falklands action and 'The Submarine Creed' (Pratt served in submarines from 1915 - 1918)
