Photocopy (135pp) of his ms diary, January 1943 - January 1944, covering his service, as a Territorial Army major, at the War Office as one of the Military Assistants to Field Marshal Lord Alanbrooke, the CIGS, with interesting entries giving his impressions of several senior commanders, notably Field Marshals Montgomery, Wavell and 'Jumbo' Wilson and Lieutenant Generals Sir Giffard Martel, Sir Noel Mason-Macfarlane and Sir Archibald Nye, useful descriptions of visits, usually with Nye, to Army training centres in the United Kingdom, of the premiere of the film `Desert Victory' and the funeral of Admiral of the Fleet Sir Dudley Pound and an informed commentary on the progress of the war, especially in the Middle East and Mediterranean and Russia, and on the major Allied conferences during 1943; together with photocopies of some humorous verses (ms and ts, 5pp) including one on the Russian war effort by A P Herbert and another about items of uniform requested by Field Marshal Montgomery.
