An interesting and detailed ms account (58pp), written in the 1970s covering his training with the 8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters in the United Kingdom (September 1939 - April 1940), his capture while serving with the unit during the Norwegian campaign (April 1940) and his subsequent experiences as a prisoner of war in Germany, including a brief meeting with Hitler (27 April 1940) and imprisonment in two temporary camps near Berlin (April - May 1940), Spangenberg (Oflag IX A/H, May 1940 - October 1941, embracing a spell in a reprisals camp in Poland), Warburg (Oflag VIB, October 1941 - August 1942), Eichstatt (Oflag VII B, August 1942 - June 1943) and Rotenburg (Oflag IX A/Z, July 1943 - March 1945) before his liberation by the Americans during a forced march (April 1945), together with an ms diary and 2 ms letters written in April 1940, a 1944 pocket diary, brief ms notes on his captivity and rehabilitation following liberation written in 1945 and copies of pertinent POW Relatives Association news-sheets (1941 - 1945) and other printed ephemera.
