Ts (carbon copy 7pp) contemporary account written in April 1945 while serving as Senior Chaplain, 79th Armoured Division, describing a 'tour' round northern Germany and Holland giving fascinating details of conditions, especially among civilians and liberated slave labourers, the fall of Bremen, casualties from booby-trap mines, atrocities against Germans and attitudes of and towards the Germans; ts account (4pp written May 1945) of his landing in France by LST (well after D-Day) in June 1944 as a Chaplain (possibly attached to the Guards Armoured Division) and of his activities and civilian conditions in Belgium, especially Ostend - where he served as Senior Chaplain to the British Forces - and Holland, especially Eindhoven and Enschede; miscellaneous ms and ts letters to him, 1943 - 1946, from his former senior officers paying tribute to him and giving useful details of a padre's role, and from women in Belgium describing incidents after the liberation; The Bull's Head/The Bulwark, a newsletter issued by the Padres of 79th Armoured Division, March - June 1945; Officers advance pay book (Army Form W3241, 1939-1940).
