Galley proof (4pp, original broad sheet columns) of an article written for the journal THE GREAT WAR ... "I WAS THERE!" (1938-39) describing his capture in April 1918 while serving as a company commander in the 2nd Battalion South Wales Borderers (87th Brigade, 29th Division), giving details of the rest near Poperinghe which preceded it including the disciplining of an NCO for being drunk and an address by the GOC VIII Corps, Lieutenant General Sir Aylmer Hunter-Weston, returning past a stream of civilians refugees to the line near Sailly-sur-Lys to fill the gap left by the Portuguese, the isolation of his company's position and final surrender to the advancing Germans, together with a photocopy of the final article, 4 aerial photographs of the Ypres Salient in August 1917 and a photocopy of the entry in the LONDON GAZETTE (22 June 1918) recording the award of the MC for his actions in February 1918.
