Papers relating to his service as a pilot with the Fleet Air Arm (1938 - 1959) including: excellent pilot's flying log book(1942 to 1959) principally recording his service with: No 24 EFTS (Sealand, England September - November 1942), No 31 SFTS (Kingston, Canada December 1942 - April 1943), No 9 AFU (Errol, England June - July 1943), No 2 NAFS (Henstridge, July - October 1943), No 8 NAS (October 1943 - February 1944), No 807 NAS (February 1944 - January 1945, including service in Italy based at Orvieto in July 1944, and taking part in Operations 'Dragon' - the Allied landings in southern France on 15 August 1944 - and 'Picnic' in the Aegean in October 1944): as Commanding Officer of: No 809 NAS (January 1945 - January 1946 in operations in Burma including Operations 'Dracula', the recapture of Rangoon, March - April 1945, and 'Zipper', the re-occupation of Malaya and Singapore, August - September 1945), of No 806 NAS (January - October 1946) and of No 810 NAS (June 1952 - December 1953, including service in Korea based on the aircraft carrier HMS OCEAN, April - October 1953); album containing maps, photographs and ts notes giving a very detailed presentation of the Allied landings in southern France (August 1944); ts letter (1p 27 August 1953) from Lieutenant General S E Anderson, Commander of the 5th US Air Force in Korea paying tribute to service given by the air crews and naval personnel of HMS OCEAN; ts and photocopy reports (7pp) on the accidental loss of a provost aircraft en route to Khartoum from England in February 1959; exercise book containing (9pp) aerial photographs and maps, together with his ms descriptions of Operations Dracula, Balsam (fleet cover during operations in the Malacca Straits, June 1945) and Zipper; mimeographed ts reprint of an article from RAF Mediterranean Review No 9 (nd 6pp) describing the development of carrier born air support for ground operations and landings off Italy, southern France and in the Aegean, 1943 - 1944; mimeographed ts copy (19pp) of RAF Flying College Syllabus of Training January 1950; records and certificates of his service as a naval cadet and midshipman in HMS EREBUS (December 1938) and HMS VINDICTIVE (August 1939) and his naval flimsies (1940 - 1956).
